Vietnam Golf Tour

11 Days 10 Nights

(Arrive in Hanoi, depart from Saigon or vice versa)

DAY 1: Arrive in Hanoi & Golf (-/-/-)

Upon arrival, your tour guide will escort you to the transport for your transfer to Hanoi Golf Club for your first golf game. Located up north and open for play in November 2006, this golfing gem has been strategically designed with trademark Japanese attention to detail over a vast 108 hectares of gentle, sloping terrain. The founding goal was to build a world-class championship golf course on the hillsides of North Hanoi, and at a lengthy 7,301 yards, what Hanoi Golf Club has today is a solid mature course beautiful to behold and a challenge to play.

Meals: N/A

DAY 2: Hanoi Golf Tour

Today’s golf is at the 36-hole King’s Island Golf Resort. Getting there is by way of boat, as the Lakeside Course spans two islands in a reservoir. No surprise then that water, in numerously varied ways, is a central feature, with many of the hidden greens requiring accurate carries over the lake or swampy terrain. On the Mountain view course, the 12th hole is an interesting dogleg right par 4 with bunkers grouped at the bend to prevent all but long hitters from cutting the corner. Big hitters hoping for a short iron in have to nail one straight over the bend, or be caught out by a fairway bunker on the left. Whichever the course, King’s Island challenges and excites all levels of players.

Included Meals: Breakfast

DAY 3: Hanoi - Ha Long

After breakfast, take 3.5-hour drive to Ha Long bay, a World Heritage Area of outstanding natural beauty. Upon arrival, transfer to a junk for a cruise around Ha Long Bay with a delicious local seafood lunch served on board. The cruise passes by many rocks and islets in many funny shapes. The cruise may stop for a while for visiting a beautiful case, if not today, you will do tomorrow according to each boat/junk’s itinerary. Again your dinner served on board. In the evening, enjoy the night fishing (optional) and later overnight on board.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 4: Ha Long - Hanoi

In the morning, take further cruise to explore the beauties of the Bay before returning to the Wharf. Enjoy brunch on board before disembarking. Return to Hanoi, check in and spend your overnight stay in Hanoi.

Included Meals: Breakfast & Brunch

DAY 5: Hanoi - Danang

Check out and transfer to the airport for your flight to Danang.

Upon arrival, your tour guide will meet and greet you, and escort you to the transport for your transfer to Danang Golf Club for your first golf game. Reminiscent of Australian sandbelt courses, Greg Norman has created something special in the multi-award winning Danang Golf Club. Named one of the 15 best new courses in the world by USA GOLF magazine, Danang’s Dunes Course sees generous, but firm and fast fairways that bleed gently into wild seaside vegetation. There is restrained use of water and OB, however placement is paramount to have a chance at the pins on the well bunkered and undulating greens. The fairways are also lined and well defined by long needle pines; from where you will be forced to punch off the sand and needles just to get back into play. Wind can also tighten up the course considerably, so look to be creative with bump-and-runs, or putting from well off the greens. The 148-yard signature par-3 16th hole plays against the back-drop of the South China Sea to a slightly elevated green framed by two of the course’s deepest bunkers.

Included Meals: Breakfast

DAY 6 : Danang

Today’s golf is at the Montgomerie Links Vietnam, which moves boldly over a striking landscape of wispy casuarinas, pines and sand dunes. Best described as contemporary modern links, sand is everywhere on this course, and it’s evident that Colin ‘Monty’ Montgomerie drew upon childhood memories of famous Scottish links to create a layout featuring abundant sand, prevalent bunkering and an ever-present wind. Monty has implemented classic, old world design elements into this Danang golf course, such as rolling, treeless fairways, thick rough, massive greens and tight chipping areas, with the only departure from tradition coming in the form of several lakes and streams. The stunning par 5, 12th is truly memorable; playing slightly uphill to a bunker-riddled fairway, the hole is framed by the clubhouse in the background and has been described as the best par-5 in Vietnam.

Included Meals: Breakfast

DAY 7 : Danang – Hoi An

You will be picked up and transferred to Hoi An. From the 16th to 18th centuries, Hoi An was a thriving international commercial port for Chinese, Dutch, French, Japanese, Portuguese and Arab traders. These people came primarily to trade in the high grade silk, which is still produced in the area, as well as ceramics. Today, Hoi An is a quaint riverside town, popular with tourists for its eclectic architecture, tailors shops, and numerous cafes. Some of the buildings in the narrow streets have remained unchanged for more than a century.

You will enjoy a half-day walking tour through the narrow winding streets of the ancient quarter, visiting Chua Ong Pagoda, Chinese Assembly Halls, the 200-year-old Tam Ky ancestral house, and the Japanese Bridge. Hoi An is now one of five UNESCO-designated World Heritage sites in Vietnam. In the afternoon, you are free to meander in Hoi An, unwind at Cua Dai Beach or take an optional half day trip to My Son Cham Ruins. You will stay overnight in Hoi An.

Included Meals: Breakfast

DAY 8 : Danang – Saigon

At the scheduled time, transfer to the airport for your flight to Saigon.

Upon arrival, your tour guide will meet and greet you, and escort you to the transport for your transfer to Twin Doves Golf Club for your first golf game. An exclusive members club with top notch facilities, Twin Doves is three distinctly different nines in the woodlands and lakes style of design. The scenic Luna Course is characterized by numerous small hills bordered by forests, and incorporates all the natural elements of the terrain as challenging hazards. Nature’s best continues to feature in the Stella Course as creeks weave between tree-flanked holes, placing a premium on accurate shot-making if one is to return a good score. With greens mostly multi-tiered and guarded well by water hazards, the Stella Course wins praise as the most exciting of the three nines. Playing around a lake is the Sole Course, replete with an island green, beach bunkers, and of course a series of water hazards. This nine is unique in that it has only a single par three and par five.

Included Meals: Breakfast

DAY 9: Ho Chi Minh (Saigon)

This morning, play your second round of golf at Vietnam Golf & Country Club. Widely regarded as the country’s premier golf club, Vietnam Golf has hosted Asian tour events on its two championship courses. The West Course plays long, and tee shots are challenging to narrow landing areas, some of which also feature a lone tree in the center of the fairway. Only single-digit handicap players are advised to play off the back tees. Standing out as one of the best holes, the 11th is a long 408 yard par 4-dogleg left, which demands of a drive that must carry over trees left to have sight of the green. Complicated by another large tree in the center of the fairway, the approach is then to a slightly elevated, shallow and wide green bunkered on both sides. The hillier Lee Trevino designed East Course offers more generous fairways but is protected by 110 well-positioned bunkers, water hazards and undulating fast-rolling greens which have been the undoing of many a better player. Scoring well requires smart approach shots that set up relatively straighter putts on the greens.

Included Meals: Breakfast

DAY 10: Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) – Cu Chi Tunnels

Day 10 of your Asian tour begins with a visit to the Reunification Palace, a former presidential residence that was of great importance during the Vietnam War. It is now a museum, where you can explore the past and take in the beautiful architecture during a tour. The rest of the day is yours at leisure to enjoy more of Saigon - the ancient pagodas, bustling markets, and gourmet restaurants - at your own pace. In the afternoon, you will join an optional tour of the Cu Chi Tunnels used by the Viet Cong, with lunch and dinner included.

Included Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

DAY 11: Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) – Departure

After breakfast this morning, you'll be transferred to the airport for your return flight home. Or, continue your Southeast Asian tour journey with an optional extension to Luang Prabang, Laos, and Chiang Mai, Thailand or Myanmar, etc.
